Battlefield 5 will be bringing back the Wake Island Map on December 12. Regarded as one of the best maps in the Battlefield franchise, it originally appeared in Battlefield 1942.
Included in the Tides of War Update, the Battlefield 5 map is now enhanced with a new fortification feature. It can be played in the Breakthrough and Conquest Assault modes. DICE has revealed tips and tricks ahead of the map’s return. Most notably, in Breakthrough, attackers receive tanks in the first sector, so DICE advises players to build fortifications if on defense.
A selection of bunkers can’t be destroyed, so figuring out which can be will help players create choke points. DICE also insists players use small boats for flanking enemies.
This connects to the War In The Pacific, live content released to Battlefield 5 in 2018. DICE has also started making plans for Battlefield 5 on next-gen consoles.
PC Gamer positively reviewed Battlefield 1942, saying, “If you’ve been waiting years, like I have, for the emergence of a truly multi-faceted shared-world action/wargame, it’ll light up your eyes.”
