DMCA hits Reddit user over Call of Duty leak
Publisher of Call of Duty, Activision, has filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) on February 14 to identify the Reddit user Assyrian2410 who leaked Warzone, a standalone battle royal mode for Modern Warfare, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
“Reddit is the service provider to which the subject of the subpoena-Reddit user ‘Assyrian2410’ – posted infringing Activision content,” the filing reads. “The Content infringes Activision’s exclusive rights under copyright law. Specifically, it infringes Activision’s rights in its popular video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”
Assyrian2410 found an image of Warzone and posted it to Reddit. In the subject line, he wrote, “I found this image online, not sure what it is.” The post made on February 13 has now been deleted, along with the user’s account, but its the Internet, so we have the image below.
No official announcement has been made about the upcoming mode, but a rumor does indicate a release window sometime in March.
